@Austen When you see an article about something you know personally, how often is it accurate and reasonably complete? Almost never, in my experience. Now, why do you think it would be any different when they write about some other subject?

@Austen The media lies constantly. Explicit lies are easy to catch, compared to the choice-of-narrative lie. They completely ignore that which they don’t want to talk about, but will turn a molehill into a mountain when they do want to talk about it.

@jamesdouma @farzyness Training compute should soon not be so much of a limiting factor. Very difficult bringing the 10k H100 cluster online btw. Similar experience to bringing our now 16k A100 cluster online. Uptime & performance are low at first, then improve with lots of work by Tesla & Nvidia.

@jamesdouma The scaling “laws” that OpenAI and others talk about are bogus imo. Garbage in, garbage out. GPT is a predictor of garbage.

@micsolana Unfortunately, Prop C, though well-intentioned, made the problem worse, not better. It is force-feeding the homeless industrial complex with taxpayer money.

@webflite 747. I wish Boeing still made that plane. My understanding is that the 747-8i can cruise at Mach 0.92, which makes it the fastest jumbo jet. 747 has achieved Mach 0.99, so almost supersonic in a dive.
