@amasad Good point. Being able to select which version of Twitter you want is probably better, much as it would be for a movie maturity rating. The rating of the tweet itself could be self-selected, then modified by user feedback.

💯 [@DrJBhattacharya] It's the height of irony that the European Commission fined @elonmusk's @x for not being transparent. The old Twitter handed out blue checks to cronies with no transparency whatsoever. The purpose of the old Twitter blue check system was to suppress dissidents and censor speech.

Indeed, the goal was to democratize verification, rather than have it be controlled by a group of biased elites! [@TimSweeneyEpic] @tomwarren Very strange. After prior Twitter leadership treated verification as a perk nominally reserved for “the elite” by but in practice handed out by Twitter employees to friends and cronies, Elon opened it up to everyone for a reasonable price. This was a good thing.

@yvanleterrible2 We aren’t doing well at surfacing tweets from less prominent handles, as it’s almost impossible to distinguish between authentic humans vs bots/trolls. This is why $8/month with phone and optional ID verification, as well as organizational affiliation, is so important.
