@vincent13031925 @JonErlichman I put in my last money, even though I thought we would still fail. But, it was either that or certain death for Tesla. Extremely difficult to raise money for an electric car startup (considered super quirky back then), while stalwarts like GM & Chrysler were going bankrupt.

@TimSweeneyEpic The Tesla AI4 computer that understands the vast complexities of driving in the real world is only ~1/4 the power of an H100. That is what leads me to this conclusion.

@niccruzpatane Looks like we can bring power consumption down closer to 250 Watts, which is a big deal for Optimus. Important to note that AI5 is a specialized inference chip for the Tesla AI software. That said, it will perform – for our purposes – much better than anything else available.

@SawyerMerritt Ethan is very talented, but “vision chief” would be overstating things. There are over 200 excellent engineers in the Tesla AI/Autonomy team. Tesla’s pace of progress with autonomy is accelerating. The talent war for AI is the craziest talent war I’ve ever seen!

@DimaZeniuk @truth_tesla That’s a low bar. Carmakers have never valued software engineering highly, although VW is trying to change that. I personally wrote software for 20 years & have huge respect for software engineers. Tesla is on par with best software companies & is leader in real world AI.

@teslaownersSV @woonomic @VaibhavSisinty But if he was actually capable of creating a company like Tesla, he would have done so after he was fired for lying outrageously about cost & progress of Roadster in mid 2007. We would’ve lost at least a few talented people if he was the real deal, but we lost no one.

@EvaFoxU @Tesla Sounds like we need to clear up a few things! Tesla won’t use this much net water on a daily basis. It’s possibly a rare peak usage case, but not an everyday event. Also, this is not a natural forest — it was planted for use as cardboard & only a small part will be used for GF4.

@ajtourville Important to note that we also use the Tesla HW4 AI computer in the training loop with Nvidia GPUs, currently at roughly a 1:2 ratio. Also, we’re changing the name from Hardware 4 (HW4) to Artificial Intelligence 4 (AI4). That means ~90k H100, plus ~40k AI4 computers.
