@EvaFoxU @SpaceX That was our last chance to reach orbit. If it had failed, SpaceX would have died.

@WholeMarsBlog Fusion would be expensive energy, given difficulty of obtaining and transporting source fuel, plus maintaining the reactor. Far better to use the Sun – thermonuclear reactor with no need to refuel or service.

@chhardman @PeterHotez @joerogan But it was a mistake to push for so many Covid-19 booster shots (even the initial vaccine shot was overkill on quantity). There‘s obviously risk of the immune system going out of control when it sees what what you’ve trained it to believe is a serious disease over & over again.

@WholeMarsBlog As mentioned earlier, v11.4.1 has major architectural improvements. It’s actually much more than a point release. Should arguably be v12.0, but that’s reserved for when FSD is fully AI from video in to control out.

@SpaceX Worth noting that thrust is only slightly higher with the big bell nozzle version. Larger bell is primarily for efficiency in vacuum. Aiming for 380+ sec Isp for RVac long-term. Initially likely to be ~372.

@crheller @SpaceX Glad it’s working! The sheer amount of work done by SpaceX engineering, production & launch teams is amazing. Ping should improve dramatically in coming months. We’re aiming for <20ms. Basically, you should be able to play competitive FPS games through Starlink.

@BillyM2k @Gerashchenko_en SpaceX Starlink has become the connectivity backbone of Ukraine all the way up to the front lines. This is the damned if you do part. However, we are not allowing Starlink to be used for long-range drone strikes. This is the damned if you don’t part.

@CSI_Starbase @LabPadre High-strength stainless steel armor is needed to protect the launch stand from the world’s biggest blowtorch! Even steel will be eroded fast by the Starship booster plume. We will need to make a water-cooled steel jacket to achieve full reusability.

@flcnhvy @thatdogegirl @WhatsupFranks @TeslaGong Becoming multiplanetary is one of the greatest filters. Only now, 4.5 billion years after Earth formed, is it possible. How long this window to reach Mars remains open is uncertain. Perhaps a long time, perhaps not. In case it is the latter, we should act now.

@SpaceX We’re updating satellite software to run the ion thrusters at their equivalent of warp 9. Unlike a Star Trek episode, this will probably not work, but it’s worth a shot. The satellite thrusters need to raise orbit faster than atmospheric drag pulls them down or they burn up.

@aaronburnett The Moon would establish a foothold beyond Earth quickly, to protect life against risk of a natural or manmade disaster on Earth. We would continue to launch directly from Earth to Mars while possible, rather than Moon to Mars, as fuel is relatively scarce on the Moon.
