@PeterSweden7 Wind turbines are fine if out of the way where they aren’t an eyesore. They are competitive when paired with batteries. Nuclear fission is a no-brainer. We should have a lot more of it.

Interview with Noland, world’s first recipient of a Neuralink, which enables telepathic control of a computer or phone just by thinking! Long-term, I think we can bridge severed nerve signals to a 2nd Neuralink in the spine, restoring full body control.

Neuralink is accepting applications for the second participant. This is our Telepathy cybernetic brain implant that allows you to control your phone and computer just by thinking. No one better than Noland (@ModdedQuad) himself to tell you about the first!

@cb_doge @neuralink I should mention that the Blindsight implant is already working in monkeys. Resolution will be low at first, like early Nintendo graphics, but ultimately may exceed normal human vision. (Also, no monkey has died or been seriously injured by a Neuralink device!)

@eyeslasho All brains are different. It is demystified when you think of it as a meat computer, which means that number of circuits times circuit efficiency is roughly the compute power of the hardware. Just like a computer, it also matters fundamentally what software is loaded.

@eyeslasho The brain is a computer. Once you demystify it, you can analyze any given brain for its computational ability, just like a computer.

@cremieuxrecueil There are certainly other factors at play, but heavy use of c-sections allows for a larger brain, as brain size has historically been limited by birth canal diameter

@shivon There is a physics argument that synapse activations take 1 to 2 orders of magnitude less energy than silicon transistors. That, of course, does not explain why a 10MW GPU cluster still cannot write a better novel than ~10W of brain power. My guess is that silicon…

@sobieski902 @TashaARK Supervised FSD is vastly safer than human driving. Unsupervised FSD is trending well. Over time, Version 12 (end-to-end neural nets) will far exceed human safety even when unsupervised.

@MarcusHouse This is not much consolation, but Neuralink is working on a vision chip, which will be ready in a few years. That is the next area after enabling phone/computer telepathy for those who have lost their mind-body connection. We waiting for regulatory approval for our first human.

@ray4tesla Did my best to warn people that LiDAR isn’t optimal for cars. Roads are designed for biological neural nets & eyes, so digital neural nets & cameras will work best. I say this even though Dragon uses LiDAR for docking with Station, so I don’t intrinsically hate that technology.
